George F. Wolfe, Jr.

HEATH: A funeral service for George F. Wolfe, Jr., age 93, of Heath, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, at Heath United Methodist Church, 1149 Hebron Road, Heath, with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will provide military honors.

Mr. Wolfe passed away February 14, 2014 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born May 27, 1920 in Newark to the late George F. and Cecile (Crozier) Wolfe.

Mr. Wolfe proudly served his country in World War II as a Tech Sergeant with the United States Army, earning the Bronze Star. He was employed as a control center supervisor for Owens Corning, retiring after 43 years of service. Mr. Wolfe was a charter member of Heath United Methodist Church. He was in the choir, Dux Cum Sunday School Class, Heath Senior Citizens, Owens 25 year Club, Y's Men's Club, VFW #1060, American Legion Post #85, and a Melvin Jones Fellow and Life Member of the Heath Lions Club, serving as past president and vice-president. Mr. Wolfe was an avid golfer who enjoyed other sports including bowling, softball, volleyball, and square dancing. In the last several years he and his wife developed many friendships while at Chapel Grove.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy; two children, a son, Richard (Beth) Wolfe of Canal Winchester, Ohio and a daughter, Nancy (David) Miller of Brasstown, NC; two grandchildren, Dana (Brian Gose) Calloway of Thornville and Darcie (Tim Eldredge) Wolfe of Kodak, TN; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jessi, Brice, Mason and Evan; and a brother, John Wolfe of Palm Bay, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James D. Wolfe.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, February 24, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath. The Heath Lions Club will have services at 7 p.m.
