NEWARK: A funeral service celebrating the life of Hazel L. Kreh, age 93, of Newark, will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev. Mark Pierce and Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Kreh passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at SharonBrooke.
She was born March 6, 1920 in Cleveland to the late Charles G. and Gertrude M. (Readel) Harle.
Mrs. Kreh graduated from Parma High School, Ft. Wayne Bible College (now Taylor University) and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University.
She was married to the late Fred H. Kreh, a minister with Free Methodist Church, and they lived in Pennsylvania and Kansas before settling in Ohio. Mrs. Kreh began teaching in the Newark City Schools in 1964 and spent over 20 years educating children. She taught 4th, 5th and 6th graders at Maholm and Cherry Valley Elementary and attended Spring Hills Baptist Church. She had a voracious appetite for sewing, enjoyed cross stitching and above everything was her love of family.
She is survived by her children, Peggy (Larry) Trieb of Indiana and Kathy (Andy) McMillen of Granville; grandchildren, Amy Trieb, Kari (Seth) Bartal, Lindsey Trieb, Tammy (Dan) Lilly, Timothy (Tara) McMillen and Tyler McMillen; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ethan, Emily, Caleb, Cole, Craig, Skylar, Sierra and Madelyn; brothers, Charles (Jean) Harle of Cleveland and Robert (Arlene) Harle of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 2002; a brother, William Harle; sisters, June Kreh and Edith Schultz.
Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath.
