Nelson J. "Buck" Holmes

FRAZEYSBURG: Nelson J. "Buck" Holmes, 91, of Wooster, Ohio went to be with his Lord Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013, surrounded by his wife and family at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, West Virginia. Nelson was traveling to his Florida home in Winter Haven.

Born December 14, 1921 in Fallsburg, Ohio he was a son of the late Otis L. and Bertie E. (Hoadley) Holmes and was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Holmes was a retired supervisor at the Killbuck Station of Buckeye Pipeline/Ohio Oil Gatherings. He was a member of the Jeromesville United Methodist Church, a 65 year member of Frazeysburg Lodge #490, F. & A. M. and was also actively involved with the Order of Eastern Star, Garfield Chapter 324, Al Koran Shrine of Broadview Heights and was a life member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. He was also Past President of the Wooster Shrine Club and was a life member of the VFW and the DAV.

Surviving is his adoring wife, Phyllis Morris Gunn Holmes, whom he married July 8, 1984; four loving daughters, Beverly (Chuck) Elekes, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, Judy (Jim) King, Connie (Larry) Moore and Kathy (Danny) Sensibaugh all of Nashport, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Valerie (Scott) Gutridge, Lori (Greg) Finan, Kimberly (Kelly) Morin, Shawn (Janelle) Sensibaugh, Lisa (Cody) Roahrig, Vicki (Homer) Maple, Darrin (Amber) Moore, Troy Sensibaugh, Jimmy (Angie) King, Shane (Marla) Sensibaugh, Nathan Gunn, Kevin Gunn and Emily Gunn; fifteen great grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Cary Holmes, a sister Agnes Rine, a son, Carrol Jay Holmes; a step-son Keith Gunn, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Edna and Herman Morris, the mother of his children Mildred Thomas Slaughter and his former wife Joyce Lahm Holmes.

Calling hours will be 2pm to 5pm Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, with Masonic service being conducted following calling hours by Frazeysburg Lodge 490.

Calling hours will also be from 11am to 1pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at the McIntire-Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 East Larwill Street, Wooster, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, March 25, 2013 at the McIntire-Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home with the Rev. Debra Speers officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
