COLUMBUS: Sue Willcox Gordon, age 85 of Columbus, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012.
She was born to the late J.W. and Martha C. Willcox on March 31, 1927. She graduated from the Columbus School for Girls in 1944. She attended Wellesley College and the Ohio State University. While her sons attended Columbus Academy, she served as President of the Columbus Academy Mothers Association. When her youngest child went off to college, she went to work in retail. Following her retail experience she worked at RECO Electric, Inc with her husband Ken. She enjoyed the construction industry. She was president of the corporation for a number of years. She served on the Associated Electrical Contractors Board during this time. She and Ken retired when her daughter and son-in-law took over the business. Sue loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in all their endeavors. Sue and Ken were loyal supporters of Ohio State, Columbus Academy and Granville Athletics.
Sue was a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gordon; son, James S. Gordon; and her sister, Katherine Reiland. She is survived by her children, Cathy (Stephen) Skeens and Kenneth "Chip" (Sally) Gordon Jr.; sister, Martha Roberts ( Bainbridge Island, WA.); daughter-in-law, Sue W. Gordon ( Granite Bay, CA.); brother-in-law William Reiland; 12 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Sue and her son Jim will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Welsh Hills School, 2610 Newark Granville Rd., Granville, OH 43023, where family will receive friends from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. Donations in Sue's name may be made to Columbus School for Girls, 56 S. Columbia Ave., Bexley, OH 43209, or to the Columbus Academy, 4300 Cherry Bottom Road, Gahanna, OH 43230
