NEWARK: A memorial service for William W. "Bill" Johnson, age 83, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Steve Cramer officiating. Military Services will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Chestnut House. He was born March 31, 1931 in Newark, Ohio the late Luther P. and Violet (Hartman) Johnson.
Bill will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh. He proudly represented his country serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and worked at the Newark Air Force Station until his retirement. Bill was a Civil War aficionado, a starter/ranger at the Granville Golf Course and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Granville.
He is survived by a son, David W. (Theresa) Johnson of Heath; a daughter, Jennifer R. (David) Brehm of Columbus; four grandchildren, Ben (Reina) Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Natalie Brehm and Riley Brehm; and four great-grandchildren, Brandt Lees, Kalista Lees, Daniel Frailly and Caylynn Frailly.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Anna Pauline "Bobbie" Dayhuff and second wife, Naomi Stickle.
