KILGORE — Arrangements for Johnnie "J L" Huntley, 78, of Tatum, are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mr. Huntley passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at his home in Tatum.
Johnnie was born October 12, 1934, in Clovis, N.M. He graduated from White Oak High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during the Korean Conflict
. After returning home from the military, he married the love of his life, Martha Kunkel, and they spent 54 years together.
He worked for and retired from the offshore oilfield business. He sang in the choir and a quartet while attending White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed all aspects of farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Huntley is survived by his wife, Martha of Tatum; children, Julie (Randy) Reid of Tatum and Bobby (April) Huntley of Tatum; sister, Sue Yoder of Longview; grandchildren, Randall (Michelle) and David Reid, Samantha Huntley and Jacob and Jacee Spurlock, all of Tatum; great-grandchildren, Xander, Brooklyn and Roxy Reid, all of Tatum.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, RC Huntley; and a granddaughter, Rachel Reid.
The family wishes to extend the invitation for friends to come by the family home as there are no services planned at this time.
