Cecil M. Burnette, 75, died Monday, March 4, at his home in Houston, Texas. Born in Bristol, Virginia, he was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Mamie Burnette, and a sister, Jane Smith, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Survivors include his sister, Kitty Maiden; and brother Bob Burnette, in the Daytona area; and numerous nieces and nephews. He grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, graduated from Seabreeze High School and attended the University of Florida. Cecil served in the U.S. Army. He worked at the Daytona Beach News-Journal prior to moving to Houston where he was Advertising Manager at the Houston Post, before starting his own business, Mid-Town Printing. Cecil was co-founder of his church in Texas where he centered his life, surrounded by many caring friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 3701 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.
