Carl Edward Akin, age 78, of Daytona Beach, FL left his home on Earth to enter the Kingdom of God on December 17, 2013. He was born on December 21, 1934 in Honeoye Falls, NY to Harold and Edith Akin. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering Carl worked for General Railway Signal Co., John L. Klug Corp., Lima Precast Corp. and Vanmaaran Construction. He was a member in good standing and Past Master of Union Lodge No. 45, Lima, NY. In 1985 he served as Grand Director of Ceremonies to the Grand Lodge of the State of NY. He served in the US Army Reserve for 6 years. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf and reading Civil War history. He was a devoted husband and father. He belonged to St. John's Episcopal Church, Honeoye Falls, NY, and Colony Community Church, Daytona Beach, FL. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Eunice (Gruetzner), son David and wife Karen, grandchildren Quinn and Zachary (AZ), son Donald (CA), brother Ralph and wife Margaret, three nieces Kelly, Katie, Kerri and their families (NY). A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Colony Community Church, 1275 Beville Rd., Daytona Beach, FL in the South Clubhouse at 11:30 AM.
