Donald F. Ferris, Jr., 73, of DeLand, FL, passed away November 13, 2012. Donald and Joanne wintered here for 7 years and then moved from his birthplace of Lockport, NY to make their primary home in DeLand. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and after his return, started working in Quality Control with General Motors. Through his love for sports he was very involved in coaching ball but as for Donald, his own hobbies included cooking, golfing and fishing and he felt life didn't get better than that! He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Peracciny Ferris and two sons, Daniel and Mark.
Surviving family members include his wife, Joanne, DeLand, FL; father, Donald F. Ferris, Sr. of Lockport, NY; his dog Mitzi; three sons, Anthony and Christopher of DeLand, Donald III of Utah; daughter, Stephanie of Lockport, NY; sisters, Adele (Sharon) Rietz, Sanborn, NY, Roberta (Robbie) Laskowski, Lockport, NY; brother David (Michelle) Las Vegas, NV; along with two step sons, Jeffrey Cummings and Eric Cummings of Lockport, NY; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 3-6pm with a prayer service at 4:30pm at Lankford Funeral Home. The family requests donations go to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, National Processing Center, ATTN: Honor & Memorial Gifts, P.O.
