Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Daniel John Carboy, C.Ss.R. 73, who died Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Timonium, MD, will be concele-brated at 11 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. Burial will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater with military honors being conducted by members of the American Legion Post #285, Edgewater. A Wake service will be 7 PM Monday, August 26, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Carboy was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 6, 1939 and professed his first vows on August 2, 1961. He was ordained a Redemptorist Priest on June 19, 1966 at St. Alphonsus in Esopus, NY. He served as Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force retiring as Lt. Colonel after 20 years service during the Vietnam Era. Upon retirement from the Armed Forces, Fr. Carboy served in the Vice-Province of Richmond until he became Rector at St. Alphonsus Villa, New Smyrna Beach from 2005 – 2008. Survivors include two sisters, Ann Marie Carboy of Brooklyn and Frances (Ken) Jessnick of Staten Island, NY and several nephews and nieces.
