Donald F. Brown, 86, of Flagler Beach, went home to be with his Lord on August 18, 2014. He was born in Dearborn Township, Michigan. Don served his country in the USAF from March 1946 to June 1953. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Don worked for the Veterans Administration in Allen Park, Michigan and from 1974-1984 in Orlando, FL as Administrator of the VA Out-Patient Clinic, then retiring to Flagler Beach in 1984. With an interest in residential architecture, he attended Daytona Beach Community College. Don was proud to be the designer of several homes in the Flagler Beach and Palm Coast area. Don was an active member of Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, NARFE, Flagler Humane Society, Journeys End, Humane Society of the US, Natural Conservancy and AARP. Don enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with the family cat, Carla. Don, a loving, caring, gentle man, who also enjoyed a good laugh, will be greatly missed by family and friends. Don is survived by Florence, his loving wife of 40 years, and by his dear brother, Stanley Brown of St. Augustine, FL. Other survivors include nieces Alice Cyr, Mary Smith, Audrey Ogle, Charlotte White-lock, Ina (Cal) Jackson, Lois (Ron) Rottier; and nephews George (Dawn) Sperry, Thomas (Susan) Bleet, Gary Adamson; also by many great and great great nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his first wife Lieselotte Brown; parents Francis and Ila Brown; sisters Marjorie Brown and Alberta Adamson, nee Brown, and brother-in-law Norman Adamson. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00AM at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church, 101 Pine Lakes Parkway, Palm Coast, FL.
