Edgar L. Deighan, age 89, passed away peacefully February 24, 2013. Born in Bronx, New York June 19, 1923, Ed enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 at 18 and served for 22 years during World War II and the Korean War retiring in 1964 at age 40. Ed was past commander of VFW Post 3282 and held several other offices including Post Chaplin. He was a member of the Port Orange Elks, American Legion Post 361, the Korean War Veterans and many other military organizations. Ed was a well know and respected umpire in local baseball. He is survived by his wife Eva of the home; children, Michael Deighan and wife Melanie; daughter Donna Walker, all of Jacksonville; and daughter Cathy Deighan of Connecticut; three granddaughters, Jill Burnsed of Maclenny, Christa Lehman and Mallory Deighan; one grandson Corey Deighan, all of Jacksonville; two great-grandsons Maddox and Mason Burnsed; two sisters, Ruth Corlett and Edna May, both of Florida; also four stepsons, Frank, Jerry, John and Richard Kenney, all of Florida. Ed dearly loved his family and was fiercely devoted to his country. He will be painfully missed by all who loved him. His final resting place will rightfully be in Arlington National Cemetery beside all of the other heroes. Memorial services will be held at VFW Post 3282, 5810 S. Williamson Blvd., Port Orange on March 5, 2013 at 1 P.M..
