Gary Glenn Thompson, age 53, Edgewater, FL died on April 21, 2013 as a result of a car accident. The visitation will be from 4:00pm to 5:00pm with a service starting at 5:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Gary was born in Miami, FL on May 15, 1959 to Alvah and Harry Thompson. Gary moved to Edgewater at the age of 6. He graduated from New Smyrna High with high honors in 1977. Gary attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and was a graduate of Daytona State College. Gary worked at the United Space Alliance at NASA since 2001. Gary loved his family, the Space program, aeronautics, and music. His life long dream was to work at NASA and his family is grateful he achieved that dream. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Gary was a beloved husband and father. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Harry Thompson. Gary leaves behind his wife, Ying Lin of Edgewater, FL; his mother, Alvah Dion; his sister, Sharon Thompson. Gary had four children and one stepson: Jillian Hsu (Staff Sergeant Joe) of Fort Benning, GA - their children Joseph, Daniel, Dylan, and Lillian; Jeffrey Thompson (Robin) of Kissimmee, FL - their children Abigail, Hannah, and Jacob; Gregory Thompson, Dallas, TX and Kandice Owens (Joseph) New Smyrna Beach, FL and their children Reaghan and Natalie (Stepson) Tingjian Lu Edgewater, FL. Condolences may be shared with the family at Arrangements under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
