(Ret) Lt. Colonel George B. Bowers, Jr., passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014. A gathering of friends and family will take place Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange from 12:00 pm- 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm. Following the memorial celebrations, an inurnment with full military honors will take place at Daytona Memorial Park. Lt. Col Bowers served his country for 30 years in the Navy, Army Air Corps, and U.S. Airforce. He graduated from Mainland High School, class of 1942, and Florida State University. While at FSU he performed as a trapeze artist in the circus, traveling all 50 states and to 20 countries in Europe. Those left to cherish their memories of Lt. Col Bowers are his loving wife of 43 years, Insun Yung Bowers, Port Orange, FL; daughter, Karen (David) Bowers Chadwick, Edgewater, FL; son, George Zachariah (Suzie) Bowers, Las Vegas; brother, LeRoy Bowers, Crescent City, FL; grandchildren, Chris, Kailin, Dylan, Zachariah, Darrell, Debbie; great grandchildren, Zoey, Nicholas, Christopher, Shiloh and Sky; nephews, Mike Ramsey and Family, and John Tanner and Family; nieces, Jackie Purdy, Shirley (Jay) Kiesling, and Shirley Bennett. Mike Myers and Family and dear friends of 60 years, Speck and Chris Sanders and Family. Lt. Col Bowers is predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Bowers, three sisters, Virginia, Mary, and Gertie; a brother, Fritzgerald Bowers, and beloved daughter, Eileen Bowers.
