Hartwell Ellis Tindal, 81, of DeLand passed away on August 24, 2013. Mr. Tindal was born on August 17, 1932 in Akron, Ohio. After graduating high school he joined the Coast Guard, where he served his country during the Korean War. When Hart left the Coast Guard, he moved to DeLand and worked at his mother's motel, The Garden Motor Court. Mr. Tindal went on to become a successful business man in West Volusia County where he owned several businesses including: Top Tunes, Michael's Lounge, the outdoor Hart's Date N' Skate, and later the indoor Date N' Skate. During this time, Mr. Tindal also owned several winning thoroughbred race horses. After selling his businesses and horses, Hart made a living as a professional poker player. Mr. Tindal devoted many years of his life to coaching Little League Baseball and Biddy League Basketball. He also served his community as a member of the DeLand Elks Lodge. Mr. Tindal was preceded in death by his father, Hartwell Vernon Tindal; his mother, Hilda Isaly; and his former wife, Marge Tindal. His survivors include his daughter, Tracie and his favorite son in law, Sean. He is also survived by his three sons, Robert and his wife Dana, David and his wife Kimberly, and Steven Tindal. Hart Tindal's big heart will be greatly missed by his granddaughters Delaney and Landry Tindal who will never forget their "Pops". Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 on Saturday, August 31st at Lankford Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:00.
