John Edward Lajza, DeBary, FL passed away on March 23, 2013. He was the son of John and Anne Lajza born on September 20, 1937 in Chicago, IL. His sister Anne preceded him in death. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer until 1963. After studying mechanical engineering, with a focus on diesel engines, he was a successful salesman for Mack Truck Corporation for over 30 years. At Mack Truck, he received the prestigious "BullDog Award" as National Sales Champion multiple times. In addition to Mack Truck, John conducted several successful entrepreneur endeavors. John was a member and Past-President of the Rotary Club of Longwood, FL, a board member of the DeBary Country Club, and is a current board member of the Gateway Center for the Arts. He truly enjoyed his many friendships through these and many other organizations. Over the years, John was an avid traveler. Grandpa John leaves a legacy of generosity and of being his grandchildren's biggest fan. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his children Cindy (Scott) Lee, Apopka; Ed (Tammy), DeBary; Bill (Monika), Germany; Jeff (Molly), Gainesville; and Tim (Michelle), Palm Bay; his 11 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. In his memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community United Methodist Church in DeBary or the Gateway Center for the Arts, DeBary. Arrangements are being handled by the Deltona Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation and viewing will be held Thursday, March 28th from 2pm - 4 pm and 6pm - 8 pm. The Memorial is scheduled for 12:30pm Saturday, March 30th at The Community United Methodist Church, DeBary.
