John J. Adazzio, age 94, of Port Orange, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2013. A viewing will be held on Monday March 18, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, Tuesday March 19, at 1:00 P.M, the family will receive guest one hour prior. He will be laid to rest following the service at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. John was born on January 30, 1919 Oyster Bay long Island, New York to the late Lucille (Monteleone) and John Adazzio. John joined the Merchant Marines prior to his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He served proudly attainting the prestigious rank of Sergeant Major. His battles and campaigns were fought in North Apennines; Northern France, Po Valley; Rhineland; Rome Arno; Air Combat; Naples Foggia; Sicily; Southern France; and Tunisia. He was also awarded the Legion of Merit, and many other distinguished citations. Following his service John returned home and opened a small Retail Store in New York. He also worked for the city of New York and for Mayor Koch in finance. He was a member of American Legion, and the Port Orange Eagles. John is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years Anna Adazzio, who passed in 2001. Survivors included his sons, John Adazzio, Richard Adazzio; Phillip Kinsman, who was like a son to him; sister, Nancy (Frank) Martinez; grandchildren, Desiree, John, Joseph, Holly; great grandchildren, Reyena, Samantha, Hannah, Jordan; great great grandchildren, Isabella, Elijah, and his loving companion, Ivah Evilizor. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to any Humane Society, in the memory of John Adazzio. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
