John Robert Peshek "JP" (84) peacefully passed away at the Halifax Hospital, on Wednesday, November 14, in the loving arms of his wife, Irene, and his loving son and daughter Jeffrey and Jaime. John was born in Daytona Beach, on August 25, 1928, to Miles and Violet Peshek. The Pesheks were one of the pioneering families of South Daytona. He attended and graduated from St. Paul's Catholic School. Upon graduating, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a Control Tower Operator in various parts of the country. His "you have the nod to hit the sod" has followed him thru his life. After his discharge from the USMC, he attended horticultural classes at Stetson University which served him well in his love of gardening. He then joined the ranks of Southern Bell Tel & Tel as a Cable repairman retiring after 31 years. He proudly served his local union and served as President of the local CWA 3102 for three terms. He was an avid golfer (proudly scoring two "hole-in-ones"). Working in his yard was his joy 24 - 7! He enjoyed meeting friends and family at the Ormond Beach Elks, BPOE 2193, becoming a 41 year lifetime member. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene; his son, John Jeffrey; his daughter Jaime Radtke; son-in-law Craig; and his two beloved grandchildren, Caitlin and Ryan. He is also survived by his brothers Guy Peshek (Evelyn) and William Peshek, (Sue); and sister-in-law Mary Lou Peshek; and many loving nieces and nephews on his and his wife's side of the family. John is predeceased by his loving parents Miles and Violet Champagne Peshek, and his brothers Kendall and Gordon Peshek. John will be honored by a Mass held at the Basilica of St. Paul on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 9:00 am., where he has been a devoted parishioner throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to
, or the Florida Elks Children's Hospital in Umatilla.
