Jesse "Sonny" Bratcher, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home in Daytona Beach. His parents were the late Ruth Holmes and Jesse Bratcher, both of Ormond. Jesse attended school in Ormond Beach. Jesse served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After completing his service, he worked at the Dial Lodge as a cook in Princeton, NJ. There he married Josephine Brown and they had two sons, Carlos of Federal Way, WA and Carl of Dover, DE. Jesse retired in 1983 and moved back to his hometown of Ormond Beach where he enjoyed fishing and singing in his church's Men's Choir. Jesse is survived by his wife, Josephine Brown (Federal Way, WA): his children, Carlos W. Bratcher (Federal Way, WA), Carl A. Bratcher and Cynthia Bratcher (Clarke) of (Dover, DE); his seven grandchildren: and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 in the chapel at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home.
