Funeral services for Mr. John L. Delaware, 74, Daytona Beach, who passed on Monday, April 14, 2014, will be 2 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, with Pastor Inez Ingraham, delivering the main eulogy. Interment will following in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5-8:30 PM, today (Fri, Apr 25) at RJ Gainous Funeral Home and from 12:30 PM until service time at the Funeral Home on Saturday. Mr. Delaware was born September 23, 1940 to Burnell Wright Johnson and John Henry Delaware. He was raised by his stepfather, Eddie Johnson, Sr. and was the oldest of twelve children. Mr. Delaware attended Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida, graduating with the class of 1960. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He was a retired stockroom clerk for Winn Dixie Stores. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Lisa Ann Delaware; a nephew, Marvin Brown, who was more like a son he never had; three brothers: Matthew Johnson, Terry Johnson and Emanuel Johnson; six sisters: Rosa Mae Roberts, Dorothy Mae McBurows, Gloria Wright, Geneva Johnson, Brenda Johnson and Lillie Johnson; an aunt, who is the elder of the family, Pastor Inez Ingraham; an uncle, Jimmy Morris; three brothers-in-law: Dan Fleming (Anneke), Donnell Brown (Mildred) and Marvin Brown, Sr. (Emerald); three sisters-in-law: Vernell Brown, Sandra Brown and Diane Fleming; a godson "like a son": Elder Emmanuel Solomon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
