Kathryn E. Mitchell, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Signature Nursing Home of Ormond Beach, FL at the age of 87. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. Kathryn was born to the late Fred and Deane Martin, July 15, 1925 in Cadiz, OH. After high school Kathryn moved to Columbus, OH where she briefly attended Ohio State University for executive secretary training. She married Raymond Mitchell in 1946 and resided in Cleveland, OH. Kathryn was a member of Cleveland Heights Presbyterian Church where she was appointment as a deacon and elder; actively serving on many committees and teaching Sunday school. She was employed at CASE Western Reserve University and later as a beloved secretary at Ridgebury Elementary School. They relocated to Ormond Beach in 1985 where she belonged to Christ Presbyterian Church, the Ormond Beach Garden Club, Chapter CU, PEO and served on the board of the Trails Homeowners Association with her husband for many years. Kathryn is survived by her husband Raymond of 67 years; sisters Virginia Thompson, Mountain Home, AR and Ruth Ann Copeland, Scio, OH; brother-in-law Glenn Mitchell, Berea, OH; sister and brother-in-law Martha Ellen and William Stapleton, Richmond Heights, OH; her three children Richard Mitchell, Salem, MA; Karen (Steve) Lowder, Lansing, MI and Susan Fitzgerald of Ormond Beach, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Kathryn is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Ethel Martin and sister-in-law Lois Ann Mitchell. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held April 13, 2013 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 W. Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL at 11:00 A.M, with family receiving friends one hour before the service.
