Louis Earl Conway, 80, of Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler Port Orange Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Evelyn Conway, brother Robert and sister Joan. Louis was born April 20, 1933 in Starke, FL and grew up around the Jacksonville area. He attended high school in Callahan, FL. Louis joined the United States Air Force in 1950 where over a period of four years he was stationed in Texas, Wyoming, Alaska and South Carolina. He was honorably discharged in August of 1954 and entered the University of Florida in September. He majored in Business Administration; however, after taking a Business Law course, he decided that he wanted to pursue a career in practicing law. After graduating from the University of Florida College of Law in 1959, Louis came to this area and practiced law for 50 years, engaging in general practice, banking, municipal law, real estate, probate, wills and trusts. His practice was with the Law Firm lately known as Raymond, Wilson, and Conway, P.A. Louis was elected a bank director on the Board of Directors of Flagship First National Bank of Volusia County in May of 1979, was Past President of Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce, Ormond Beach Kiwanis, Volusia County Legal Services and served as Ormond Beach City Attorney from 1968 to 1972. Away from his professional duties, Louis enjoyed gardening, playing golf, handball with his law partner, softball and volleyball. Louis had a passion for reading good books and he maintained an extensive home library. He was a Little League baseball coach, an avid supporter of the Florida Gators, a lifelong dog lover and most of all, a proud and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patsy Ann Conway; his son Louis "Chip" Conway, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kathy Rowland Conway of Boone's Mill, Virginia; granddaughter, Hannah C. Conway of Charleston, South Carolina; and sister, Jackie Conway of Hudson, Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held at Haigh-Black Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 4PM with visitation at 3PM.
