Panayioti "Peter" Dimitrakopoulos, 82 of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away Monday, February 10, 2014. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12th between the hours of 6:00~8:30 pm with the Trisagion Service beginning at 8:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd followed by the funeral services on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., February 13st at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 129 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Peter was born to the late George and Athanasia Dimitrakopoulos of Kalamata, Greece where he served as a Police Officer. He was a very successful Restaurateur in Montreal, Chicago, and in Daytona Beach with Byron's Grill. He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, an avid reader, especially when it came to history and politics. He was an outstanding soccer player in his day, and enjoyed the camaraderie with his friends. Most of all his passion was spending time with his three grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his son, George (Helen) Dimitrakopoulos, Ormond Beach and his three grandchildren, Anthanasia, Panayioti, and Petros. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Anthanasia Dimitrakopoulos in 2001 as well as three brothers. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Peter's memory to: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 129 Halifax Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32118.
