Paul M. Iuvone, age 90, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, died June 13, 2014 at his current home in Orlando. He was originally from Jackson Heights, NY, moved to Hallandale, Florida in 1968 and then retired to New Smyrna Beach in 1986. For many years, he and his wife, Muriel, also had a summer home on the beach in Milford, CT. In 2012 they purchased a home in Orlando to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Barbara. A pilot, Paul flew the B-24 Liberator during World War II in the Army Air Corps, the Curtis C-46 Commando during the Korean War for the U.S. Air Force and C-119 Flying Boxcar in the Air Force Reserves. After the war, he was a NYC police officer before becoming an Eastern Airlines pilot in 1957 where he flew captain on the Lockheed Constellation and Electra aircraft, the Boeing 727 and the Airbus A-300. In retirement, Paul took up tennis, while enjoying living on the beach in New Smyrna. He and Muriel attended Our Lady of the Sea and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, traveled and especially loved to cruise with friends and neighbors. He is survived by three sons, Brian (Barbara) of Orlando, Paul Michael (Betsy) of Atlanta, Georgia; and Jeffrey of Hollywood, Florida; three grand-daughters, Lindsay (Chris) Phillips, Whitney, all of Atlanta, and Jennifer (Eric) of Boise, Idaho; and three great-grandsons, Mason, Owen, Aiden of Atlanta, and a fourth great-grandson on the way in Boise, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Muriel, and granddaughter, Katherine "Katie". He was a kind man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 988 Father Donlon Drive, New Smyrna Beach. Entombment will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, 3001 S.
