Robert Timothy Donovan, 85, of Ormond Beach peacefully passed away on April 12, 2013. A Memorial Service in his honor will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 South Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Inurnment will immediately follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Bob was born to Thomas and Helen Donovan June 2, 1927 in New York City, NY. He asked his mother's permission to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17, and proudly served his country from 1945-47. After military service, Bob worked for the Postal Service. He was stationed at the JFK Postal Unit. Bob married the love of his life, Christina McKenna. He and Christina retired to Ormond Beach in 1987. Bob loved being retired in Florida. He enjoyed reading and traveling with Christina. They also enjoyed entertaining, having parties for friends and family. Bob loved spending the holidays with family. He loved cheesecake and became known as "The Cheesecake Man" at Publix. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Christina, and by his brother Thomas Donovan, and his sister Carman Speckert. He will be sadly missed by his brother Neil Donovan (wife Mary) of College Point, NY; his sister Eileen Clark of Holbrook, NY; his sister-in-law Mary Lynch (husband Arthur) of Ormond Beach; and by numerous loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob's name to the Pregnancy Crisis Center Inc, 416 N. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
