Richard L. Rahl, 64, Edgewater, a diesel mechanic for the New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission for 34 years before his retirement, died Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach. Mr. Rahl was born in Uniontown, PA and moved to Edgewater in 1975 from his birthplace. He was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed watching basketball, baseball and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a member of the Uniontown Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ellen "Abby" Rahl; one son, John D. (Chalice) Rahl of Hawthorne, FL; one daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Wargo of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Reba and Barry Rahl, both of Nemacolin, PA; four sisters, Linda Maines of Hopwood, PA, Debbie Duval and Penny Rudolph, both of Uniontown and Marci Rahl of Carmichaels, PA and six grandchildren, Cory Armlin, Faith Rahl, Jazlyn Rahl, David Craig Rahl and Zachary and Logan Wargo. A celebration of life will be 3 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Dudley Edgewater Funeral Chapel, 433 N. Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater. Cremation will be by Dudley Crematory, New Smyrna Beach.
