Mrs. Theresa Crosslin Gainous, wife of the late Dr. R.J. Gainous, Jr., and former owner of R.J. Gainous Funeral Home, passed on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at her home. Services will be at 1 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. L. Ronald Durham, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at R.J. Gainous Funeral Home and from 11:30 AM until service time at the church on Wednesday. Mrs. Gainous was born in Lecanto, Florida and attended Lincoln Park Academy. She was a graduate of Bethune-Cookman College and attended New York University Master's Program. She was a life member of the Gamma Mu Omega Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she served as a former Basileus. She retired from the Volusia County Public Schools where she was a teacher at Bonner Elementary and was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Ann Hood, Los Angeles, California; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.rjgainousfuneralhome.com.
