Thomas H. Bullard, 96, of Pierson passed away on April 24, 2013 at Ridge-crest Nursing Center in DeLand. He was born in Whiteville, NC on February 9, 1917 and came to the area in 1971 from Miami. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years during World War II and was a retired refrigeration and air conditioning technician. He was a member of the VFW Moore-Molander North Post 9726 in Pierson and was a Protestant. Thomas loved fishing. Survivors include his caregiver Louise Ward of Astor and her extended family; step-daughters Faye Tavel and Ann Stemble, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother Paul Bullard of Ft. Washington, MD; nephews Paul Bullard, Jr., Mike Bullard, Ronnie Bullard and Billy Bullard, all of Ft. Washington, MD; Wayne and Charles Bullard of Chadbourn, NC and Hensel Boswell of Bunnell, FL; nieces Debbie Williams of Ft. Washington, MD, Betty Stewart and Barbara Larrimore of Chadbourn, NC, Jackie Williams of Newnan, GA, Daphne Carper of Fairfax, VA, Jennie Harder of Easton, VA and Carol Peck of Palm Coast, FL. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29th from 10-11am, with a funeral service at 11am at the Emporia Baptist Church with Reverend James McMasters officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale Emporia Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at Allen-Summerhill DeLand is in charge.
