Thomas John Murphy, age 82, of Ormond Beach, FL, died at his home on October 15, 2013. He was born May 29, 1931 to Charles and Louise (Emerson) Murphy in Vermont. Tom was a super star athlete in high school and went on to play for the Red Sox farm league. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and went on to spend 30 years at United Technologies, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Division as a General Foreman for 30 years. He loved fishing, boating, flying and golf. He was very proud when he obtained his private pilot's license. Upon retirement he moved to Ormond Beach in 1988 from Middletown, CT. and became a member of the Riviera Country Club. He is loving remembered by his wife, Virginia Murphy, by his son, Thomas C. Murphy, and his daughter, Sharon Marinelli all of Ormond Beach, by his step-daughter, Kathryn (William) Labbe, Rhode Island, and by his loving redheaded granddaughter, Tessa Marinelli. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Thomas' memory to Volusia/Flagler Jr. Golf Association, 1648 Taylor Road; Suite 212 Port Orange, FL 32128.
