Walter Gindl, 85, passed away at Florida Hospital, DeLand on Monday, November 5, 2012. Walter was born on April 4, 1927 in Calumet City, Illinois, the only child of Lawrence and Martha Gindl, he attended Tulane University in New Orleans where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the City of Chicago, Department of Engineering from which he retired in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Janice and his cat companion Dolce. Over the years he traveled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean Islands. He was a lifetime collector of stamps as well as baseball and football memorabilia As an avid golfer, he relocated to DeLand, Florida in order to play year round. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 10:00A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in DeLand, Florida. Memorial contributions may be made in Walter's name to Journey's End, P.O.
