Mass of Christian Burial for William C. McLaughlin, age 90, of Edgewater, who died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia /Flagler Care Center in Edgewater, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at St. Gerards Catholic Church, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach chapel, with wake service at 6:00 p.m. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. McLaughlin, an aeronautical engineer, worked for NASA for several years as well as Lockheed Martin. He moved from Orlando to this area in the early 1980's. Mr. McLaughlin served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of St. Vincent DePaul/St. Gerards congregation where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed bowling, and loved to square dance. A good husband, father and grandfather, everyone loved this wise, non-judgmental man with a kind spirit. Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor Watson of Edgewater and Bonnie Jean McLaughlin of South Daytona; and one brother Jack (Gai) McLaughlin of Altoona, Florida. Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline in 2009, and his mother and father. Memorial donations in Mr. McLaughlin's name may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Attn: Edgewater Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129, or the SE Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S.
