On Friday, April 4, 2014, Willie Joe "Will" Bryant heard the Master's voice gently whispering come on up thy good and faithful servant take thy rest. He was born on July 25, 1949 in Fort Valley, GA. Willie Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Howell Smalls; father, Ulysses Bryant, Sr.; daughter, Sharonn Bryant Niblack and brother, Ulysses Bryant, Jr. Funeral and Burial Services of Retired SMSGT Willie Joe Bryant were held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Greater Cathedral of Praise Ministries, Dr. Timothy Deas, Pastor. His former pastor, Reverend Gregory E. Moore, Trinity Baptist Church, Fort Valley, Georgia gave the Eulogy. Before relocating to Daytona Beach, he was a faithful member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board Ministry. A Military Honor and Farewell Salute were performed by the United States Air Force. A Memorial Service remembering Willie Joe "Will" Bryant will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014, 6:00 p.m. at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 539 George W. Engram Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Dr. L. Ronald Durham, Senior Pastor will give the Words of Comfort. As a Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of honorable service. He also retired from the Georgia Department of Labor after 21 years of dedicated service assisting military veterans in finding employment. He was devoted member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and faithful to worship service and Bible Study. He served untiringly in the Brotherhood Ministry, Male Ushers Ministry and as president of the Veterans Administration Ministry. He also spear-headed the 2013 Veterans Recognition program at Greater Friendship. He enjoyed singing in the Mother's Day male choir. He was an avid motor cyclist and a Mason for over 30 years. His hobbies included: photography, sports, music and road trips. Willie Joe leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted fiancée Essie Smith, of Daytona Beach, Florida; a legacy in his children: Valerie Archie of Warner Robins, GA, Kim Bryant Niblack of Tampa, FL, Jamal Bryant, Kassandra Bryant Kornegay (Edward) and William Bryant (Jessica), all of Warner Robins, GA. Sisters and Brother: Gladys Brady Johnson (Deibert) of Tampa, FL, Pastor Rosalyn Bryant Wilkerson (Pastor Arthur) of Panama City, FL, Debra Smalls, Lavern Smalls, Sharon Smalls Tolbert (Joseph), Rhonda Smalls, Grady Smalls Jr, Shonda Smalls Saunders (Phillip), Velva Smalls Clethen (Kevin), Lori Smalls, all of Tampa, FL, and Bernadine Graham of Enterprise, AL. He also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, friends and work associates.
