Robert Eugene Middlemas, 66 of Springfield passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in his home after a 15-year battle with liver cancer.
Bob was born August 17, 1948 in Springfield to James Woodrow and Dortha Lea Chivetta Middlemas. He was a 1966 graduate of Parkview High School. Besides being a heck of a good ballplayer Bob loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake with family and friends. After retirement, he became an active day trader.
Bob was raised a Baptist and these values stayed with him throughout his life. He was never afraid of hard work even after he became disabled. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #409 and the Big Deer Investment Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Bud Howell and Genelie Howell-Lurie. Bob is survived by his wife, Debby; daughter, Melissa Middlemas (Eli Grant); granddaughters, Payton and Kennedy Graves; sister, Chivetta Hackler and her family; step father-in-law, Hal Lurie, M.D.; and brother-in-law, Bruce Howell.
