Carl Reed Bayless
Carl Reed Bayless, 89, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in The Neighborhoods of Quail Creek. Carl was born on May 30, 1923 in Bowers Mill, Missouri to Samuel Bayless and Ora (Griffith) Bayless. He grew up in Lawrence County, Missouri and graduated from Mt Vernon High School in 1941. He attended Springfield Business College before enlisting in the US Navy in 1943. He proudly served on the IJSS Belleau Wood aircraft carrier. After completing his commitment to the Navy, he continued his military service by joining the Air Force in 1948 and retiring from duty in 1966. He was a Veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
While stationed in England he married his loving wife, Jean. He returned to Missouri with his wife and their two children, Steven and Karyn, in 1972. He was employed as a building supervisor at the National Avenue Medical Building and the Fremont Medical Center until 1995. During his retirement, he enjoyed leisurely nature walks and traveling with Jean. His quick wit brought laughter and smiles to those around him.
Carl was deeply loved by his family and the memories shared will be cherished. He is survived by his wife, Jean, son, Steven Bayless, daughter, Karyn (Bayless) Knox, son-in-law, Rob Knox, grandchildren, Addison, Ashli, and Alex, brother, Howard, many nephews and nieces and Peter and SallyAnn, of England.
