Helen Faucett

Helen A. "Mee Maw" Faucett, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 11:03 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Cox South Hospital. She was born April 11, 1930, in Miller, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ernest Jefferson and Lovie Jane (Vance) Hunter.

On June 1, 1948, she married Leon Dean Faucett in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2012.

Helen lived in Lawrence County the majority of her life, aside from the 25 years she resided in Garland, Texas. It was there that she and her husband Leon owned the Duck Creek Golf Course.

She and Leon returned to Lawrence County in 1972, residing on the cattle farm and opened Sycamore Valley Driving Range. She was a homemaker and the driving support behind her husband during their 64 years of marriage. Helen was also part owner of a newspaper in Dallas and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Leon Dean Faucett II and his wife, Sandy, of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Suzanne Cadle and her husband, Mark, of Grant City, Missouri; one brother, Carl Francis Hunter and his wife, Patsy, of Coppell, Texas; five grandchildren, Michelle Johns and her husband, Chris, of Katy Texas, Trey Faucett and his wife, Melissa, of Mt. Vernon, Chad Faucett and his wife, Mary, of Katy Texas, Allison Schweizer and her husband, Cory, of Savannah, Missouri, and Chris Cadle and his wife, Ashley, of Grant City, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Cole and Cooper Schweizer, with two on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Her four sisters, Edna Beach, Ernestine Jenkins, Alma Mothersbaugh and Bonnie Ross preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Untied Methodist Church with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be held at Zion Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
