J.D. Andrus

J. D. Andrus, 91, of Chilhowee, Missouri passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Mt. Vernon Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

J. D. was born November 4, 1921 in Stone County, Missouri, son of Jess and Cora Mae (Blades) Andrus. He was raised in the Oto area. He served in the United States Army during World War II. J. D. was united in marriage to Rebecca Ann "Becky" Sullivan on May 29, 1953 in Independence. Following his discharge from active duty, he went to work for Sheffield Steel, later known as Armco Steel, in Kansas City. He retired after nearly forty years of service. The couple had resided on their farm near Chilhowee since 1969. He loved the farm, his old cows and his good friend David Hill.

Survivors include son: David Andrus of Springfield, MO; granddaughter: Shaunacy Andrus of Higginsville, MO; four great grandchildren: Alexia, Gage, Madison and Bronson; two sisters: Imogene Wilson of Nixa, MO and Joan Logan of Hurley, MO; two brothers: John Andrus of Rockford, IL and Kenneth "Rusty" Andrus and wife, Carley of Hurley, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky and two sisters: Nadine Wilson and Verna Mae Tilley.

The family would like to thank David, Ken and Shane Hill for the many years of care and support you gave Dad.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at New Galloway Cemetery in Springfield. The pallbearers will be Eric Wilson, Robert Frazier, Donnie Martin, Duane Martin, David Martin, and David Andrus. Contributions are suggested to the .
