Joseph L. "Joe" Johnson

Joseph L. "Joe" Johnson, age 85, passed away June 24, 2014 in his home in rural Clever, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Belle, and his two brothers John and Ed.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years Shirley J. Johnson, his daughter Suzanne Lucas of Gainesville, Florida, his daughter Regina Phillips and her husband Mike of Bruner, Missouri, his son Joseph "Stan" Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Ozark, Missouri, his son Steven C. Johnson and wife Jamie of Melbourne, Florida. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren including, Justin Lucas and his wife Donna of West Palm Beach, Florida, Jennifer Mullins and her husband Mark of Pflugerville, Texas, Joseph "Tyler" Johnson of Springfield, Missouri, Courtney Johnson of Springfield, Missouri, Krystal Vance and her husband Scott of Melbourne, Florida, Amara Marcoccia and her husband Mike of Melbourne, Florida, Brianna Thrush and husband Greg of Melbourne, Florida, and Brian Cosmillo of Melbourne, Florida. He has also left behind eleven young great grandchildren full of potential and possibility. In addition to the loved ones previously mentioned, he is also survived by his sister Betty Frogley of Springfield, Missouri and his bother Larry Johnson and his wife Jane Johnson of Springfield, Missouri. Beyond those previously mentioned he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws.

He was a Navy veteran, one of the "Missouri Boys" on the USS Missouri during World War II, a Mason, and a Shriner.

Those that knew him know they will never meet another like him, and those that loved him will carry on his influence and instill it in their children. He is currently finds himself in the green pastures of heaven sitting next to his dad watching young kids enjoy a pickup game of ball. Between innings he shades his eyes and looks off into the distance at Busch Stadium and says, "Lets win this ballgame, we could use another power hitter, and another chance at the Sox's."

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 in Meadors Funeral Home, Clever. The funeral service, with military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014, also in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Union Ridge Cemetery, Clever. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery, in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.meadorsfuneralhome.com
