Larry Gene Morton

Larry Gene Morton, 71, was born November 1, 1942, to Jc Morton and Irene (Garrison) Morton in Springfield, Missouri.

After a battle with cancer he passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014.

He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1961 and served in the Marine Corps reserves for 8 years.

He is preceded in death by his father Jc Morton. He is survived by his wife Kay Morton, son Gene Morton and Gene's wife Melissa Morton, daughter Toni Morton, mother Irene Morton, siblings Jay Lee Morton, William Wesley Morton, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. After many years as a Teamsters union member and a truck driver at different companies he finally retired from Hiland. He enjoyed camping, traveling, gambling and he loved racing. Racing stock cars at the Fairgrounds, go carts against his son, and spent his later years being his grandson Jc Morton's biggest fan. A Memorial will be held at Greenlawn North at 3:30 pm on March 8th, 2014.

In lieu of flowers a donation in the form of a check can be made to Morton Racing at a Great Southern Bank or a cancer .
