Robert James "Bob" Williams

Robert James "Bob" Williams, age 91, passed away on April 25, 2014 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born November 28, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa, and served in both France and Germany during WW-II. He was married for 56 years to Marilyn J. Hunt, and together they parented three daughters. He earned a BS from the University of Iowa in 1949, and a Master's degree at the University of Rochester.

Before retirement in 1983, he served as a director of management information systems, and subsequently as a chief cost analyst. After retiring he was a volunteer tax counselor with the AARP Tax Aide Program.

Bob was for 50 years an active member of his church, and was a Mason and past Grand Master of his lodge, and a life member of his V.F.W. Post in Davenport, Iowa. He especially enjoyed playing golf and was an avid and accomplished bridge player.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Truitt and husband Clay Parton, Springfield, MO; Barbara Williams and husband Harry Deschepper, Rowville, Victoria, Australia; and Nancy and husband Jeff Klein, Tucson, AZ; as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bob was laid to rest on May 5, 2014 in Dubuque, Iowa. A local memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at The Waterford at Ironbridge (1131 E. Lakewood).
