Roger Dean Burbee

Roger Dean Burbee, age 80, of Springfield, MO, died peacefully Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Roger was born October 31, 1933 in Union, Nebraska and lived much of his childhood in Niangua, MO. As an adult, he lived in Springfield, MO and Memphis, TN. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a proud American.

Roger married Dorothy Clift in 1956 and they had three boys: Bob, Mike and Jerry. His life was centered around the boys. He was a Boy Scout leader of troop 18. He coached youth baseball teams: Jolly Rogers, Burbee's Bandits and the Germantown Twins. Roger worked many years at and retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was also a member and former deacon at First Baptist Church in Springfield.

Roger is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons and their wives: Bob (Mary Jo), Mike (Sheila) and Jerry (Debbie), along with nine-grandchildren and three-great-grandchildren. Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2014 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
