Albert Josephson, 83, passed away on Sunday, March 31st at his home under the loving care of Hope Hospice. Born in Brooklyn NY to Max and Anna Josephson, he lived for a number of years in Wilmington DE before retiring to Fort Myers. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Berlin Airlift. Mr. Josephson was a graduate of the University of Maryland and earned graduate degrees from Columbia University. He was a Speech Language Pathologist with a private practice in Wilmington DE; in addition, he was also employed by the Pennsville School District in Pennsville NJ.
Al was predeceased by wife Felice and sister Frieda. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia; daughter Sally (Kyle) Brownell, of Fort Myers; and son Michael of Melbourne Australia. Also, stepchildren Pete Jenkins, Alison Bowen, Sharon Hourigan, and Adam Jenkins; grandchildren Aliza Brownell of Fort Myers, Jon and Matthew Bowen, Elizabeth and Nicholas Hourigan, Andrew and Erin Jenkins, and two great-grandchildren, all from New Jersey.
Al was a member of Jewish War Veterans Post 400 of Fort Myers, and a long time member of Temple Beth El, and past president of its Men's Club. He was a kind, thoughtful, loving man held in high regard by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.
Memorial services will be Monday, April 8 at 2 pm, Temple Beth El on Winkler Road. Shiva Service will be observed at 7 pm Tuesday April 9 at his residence on 1355 Broadwater Drive in Brandywine. He will be interred in Veterans Cemetery in Wilmington DE. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his memory to Temple Beth El, 16225 Winkler Road, Fort Myers FL 33908.
