Arthur D. Hartman died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 24, 2012, a day and a month shy of his 89th birthday. He had suffered from Alzheimer Disease.
Arthur was born on Christmas Day 1923 in Roanoke, Virginia, the only child of Arthur Davis and Ada (Joyner) Hartman. He graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Virginia. During WWII he worked at the Norfolk Naval Yard.
He received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and pursued graduate studies at Yale University and New York University. He was employed by The Psychological Corporation in New York City.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife and companion of 47 years, Mary Ann Ferrarese, his daughter from a previous marriage, Joyce (Rand) Fazar, of Roanoke, Virginia, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren one great-great grandchild, and his beloved Samoyed, Pudlo.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 2, 2012, at Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E, Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Arthur's memory to the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center, 12468 Brantley Commons Ct., Fort Myers, FL 33907 or to Hope Hospice.
