Charles Raymond York, 84, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, Florida on Friday, April 11, 2014.

He loved his family and his country. He touched our lives with his intelligence, strength, warmth and love. He enjoyed hiking with his family and dogs, and always got the better hand in cards. He will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marjorie; their four daughters, Deborah, Jane, Laura and Jennifer; his sons-in-law Gary Bast, George Bornstein, Jeffery Case and Michel Emerit; and 10 grandchildren, Robin and Doug Bast; Rebecca, Joshua and Benjamin Bornstein; Michael, Kristin and Matthew Case; Adriane and Aylis Emerit.

Charles was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carl and Maurine York and is survived by his sisters Nancy Strayer of Fort Myers, Florida and Jean Kitzmiller Wagner of Tucson, Arizona and his brother Richard York of Chicago, Illinois.

Charles graduated from Culver Military Academy and The University of Michigan. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He remained in the USMCR for 20 years and retired as Major. He had a successful business career in furniture manufacturing, marketing and sales.

A memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
