Claude R. Campbell

Claude Richard Campbell died Monday March 30, 2014 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 88 years old. Claude was born November 27, 1925 to Claude and Wilhemenia (Byrd) Campbell in Marianna, Florida. He moved to Ft. Myers at one month of age and was a lifelong resident. Claude was a graduate of Ft. Myers high school where he was a five-letter man and co-captain of the football team. He attended the University of Florida on a football scholarship, where he became a devoted lifelong Gator fan. Claude served his country in World War II and was in the 82nd Airborne Division. He and his wife Susan (Scheiderer) had 4 children. Claude is survived by William (Lou Ann), Kenneth, and Susan Nemitz (Rick). His son Robert died in January of this year. Claude's joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was laid to rest at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the National Cremation Society, 3453 Hancock Bridge Pkwy in N. Ft. Myers, on Sunday May 25th from 12:00 - 2:00. The family wishes to thank the many caring individuals of the VA health system and especially Dr. Stephen W. Wener for his most excellent care for Claude through-out his latter years.
