David H. Klann

David Healy Klann, 84, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 in Fort Myers, Florida with family at his side.

Dave was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 11, 1929 to Alvin and Rosalie Klann. He married Marilyn (Lynn) Krause on September 6, 1952, and they lived in Elm Grove, WI and Sanibel, FL before moving permanently to Ft Myers, Florida in 2011.

Dave graduated from Shorewood (WI) high school in 1947, then cum laude in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1952 where he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity. He earned his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1960.

His career in the investment industry spanned thirty years. In addition to his managerial and executive roles, Dave testified before the U.S. Congress, served on Governor Knowles' Securities Advisory Committee, and was deeply admired and respected by his colleagues at both The Milwaukee Company and Blunt Ellis & Loewi.

Dave eased into retirement as a consultant with the National Association of Securities Dealers. He served many years with, and became a lifetime advisory board member of, the Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee. He also served on the finance committee of the Boy Scouts of America, Potowotami Area Council. He was active in his church communities at Elmbrook Church and Sanibel Community Church, serving on boards and committees and participating in mission trips to Belize and Rwanda.

Dave was known for his generosity, wisdom, wit, and faith. He was a dedicated student of the Bible, active in study groups in Elm Grove (WI), Brookfield (WI), and Sanibel (FL) churches.

He was an avid boater and fisherman whose love of the sea began at a young age when he joined the Sea Scouts and continued throughout his life. Dave had a passion for travel. He and Lynn visited all the world's continents except Antarctica. They returned from their expeditions with exquisite photographs that Dave loved to share with family and friends. Dave was also an avid tennis player for most of his adult life. Dave and Lynn formed an awesome doubles tennis couple and played with friends and in tournaments year-round.

Dave is dearly missed by his wife Lynn Klann, his children Nancy (David) Auth of Kirkland, Washington and Hobe Sound, Florida, David J. Klann (Tamara Dean) of Viola, Wisconsin, and Christopher (Annie) Klann of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and grandchildren Whittney Klann, Adam (Lisa) Klann, Tyler Klann, Katie Klann, Emily (John) Emmons, Debbie (Michael) Kuehner, Chris and Deani Auth, and Shari Auth/Scott Davis. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Gloria Klann and Bernice (Krause) Loper, and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved brother James Klann and his brothers-in-law Floyd Zeidler and Cliff Loper.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave's name may be made to the Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee (PO Box 26019, Wauwatosa, WI 53226) or the Hope Parkinson Program (12711 Westlinks Drive, Suite 9, Fort Myers, FL 33913).
