David Lloyd Barbur
August 18, 2013
After 52 years of living and loving large, the finest husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, friend, uncle, banker, drummer, Rotarian, fisherman, hockey jock and hog enthusiast, Dave Barbur, earned his wings and made his final ride on Sunday!
Dave made a difference in everyone's life. His never ending passion for his Sunrise Rotary Club resulted in his serving as President for two years and earning the "coveted" Parking Czar Award. He was particularly proud of being a Paul Harris Fellow. Service above self epitomizes how this wonderful guy lived his life.
Dave's leadership of his beloved ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment) and countless volunteer hours will continue to resonate for years to come. He made it his personal mission to leave each person or organization better off for knowing him.
Those who knew him well will forever miss his warmth, generosity, sense of humor, quick wit and way with words.
Remaining to carry on Dave's legacy are his wife and true love of 22 years Tammy, their son Evan and children Victoria (Keith) Ranes and Kristopher Fleishman; his mother Barbara Barbur; sister Melissa Barbur and brother Steve (Tina) Barbur; grandchildren Kaleb and Khloe, two nieces and nephew and his best friend James "Ed" (Lori) Black. Dave's dad Lloyd traveled to Heaven in June and we are comforted knowing they are together handling construction or repair projects for Jesus!
A Jubilee honoring Dave and his remarkable life will be held at Church of the Cross, Daniels Pkwy and Freshman Lane on Saturday, August 24th at 2:00 p.m. A gathering of friends and family will be held immediately following the celebration in the church's Community Christian Center to reminisce, reflect, laugh and celebrate this extraordinary man.
Instead of flowers, Dave would appreciate and highly encourage donations to ACT, PO Box 60401, Ft. Myers, FL 33906 or Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
Tammy and the family wish to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support. Please honor Dave and his life by telling those whom you love everyday and serving others. Let your actions speak louder than words!
