E. Jean Hatfield, 83, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was born in Hart County Kentucky on December 31, 1929 and was 1 of 10 children. Her family soon moved to Marion, Indiana. Jean was preceded in death by her husband James Hatfield in February 2007. She is survived by her four children Kathy Taylor, Rick Key, Dianne Haldeman, and Sandy Key along with her sister Carol Reed and brother Harry Dennison Jr. Jean is also survived by 6 loving grandchildren (Jeff, Stephanie, Allysha, Taya, Tyson, Luke) and 7 great grandchildren (Charli-Anne, Cooper, Kelton, Sylis, Dakota, Michael, Matthew). She enjoyed reading, playing golf, cooking, supporting Special Olympics, and preparing food and feeding the homeless. Jean was a Cub Scout Den mother, Justice of the Peace, and served on many Democratic National Committees including the DNC Executive Board in Lee County, Florida. She never forgot her Indiana farm girl roots as she traveled both domestically and internationally with husband Jim engaging in union activities as well as various political affairs. They lived in Pennsylvania for an extended period of time before retiring to Florida. Jean was a member of Eastern Star, attended The Villas Wesleyan Church in Ft Myers, Florida, and was known by family and friends as a caring and charitable woman of faith with an unselfish passion to help those less fortunate. She was also well-known for her strong will, willingness to share her opinion, and projecting her love of life with witty humor. Jean will truly be missed. A private family burial service will be held at Converse Cemetery in Converse, Indiana.
