DECEMBER 19, 2013

George H. Slay, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Dec 19th 2013. George is survived by his beloved wife Sally, daughter Lisa, two brothers, Cooper and Glenn, two sisters Iris and Nina, two granddaughters Heather, and Erika, two great granddaughters Avery and Hailey, many nieces and nephews including Sally's family . George was predeceased by two sons George Jr. and Kerry, also brother Fred.

George was born in Mississippi, moved to Texas with his parents, and served in the National Guard. Worked for Sun Oil Co., was transferred to Venezuela where he spent 13 years. After leaving Venezuela, George came to Sanibel Island, where he served as a volunteer fire fighter and founded Island Air, an Air-conditioning company. After working in the air-conditioning business, George observed a need for computer software to facilitate the industry.

He taught himself computer programming and together with his brother Glenn, wrote software programs which resulted in a new startup company, called Coastal Computer Corporation.

After 20 years, George retired in 2000 and together with his wife Sally, started traveling extensively all over the world. Travel was his passion. George also loved his summer home, in the North Georgia Mountains and spent many hours in his wood working shop.

George bravely battled cancer, always with a smile, a positive attitude, and concern for others rather than himself.
