JACK LAMB MORRISON, SR.

Jack Lamb Morrison, Sr., 93, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was born February 16, 1921 in Salem, New Hampshire and moved to Miami, Florida with his family when he was eight years old. He was a long time active member of First Baptist Church Fort Myers, and dedicated his life to serving God, his family and his community. He served on many committees in his church including the Board of Deacons, the Nursing Home Ministry and the Hi Neighbors Senior Adult Ministry where he served as the group's church bus driver for many years.

During WWII, he served in the United States Coast Guard as an electrician's mate on a troop transport ship, making 22 transatlantic crossings carrying fresh troops to Europe and bringing the wounded home. While stationed in Fort Myers for a tour, he met Gladys Ford, his future wife, whose mother packed parachutes at Buckingham Air Field as part of the war effort. Gladys became one of the many war brides. After the war ended, he received an honorable discharge from the service and he and Gladys settled back in Fort Myers where he continued working in the electrical contracting field. Eventually he and his son Jack Morrison, Jr. started Morrison Electric, Inc. in the 1970's, where he worked until his retirement in 1996.

His beloved wife of 57 years, Gladys Ford Morrison preceded him in death on July 4, 2001, He is survived by three sons, Jack (Sara), Robert (Shirley) and Steve (Lisa); nine grandchildren, Angela (Kane) Richmond, Bradley (Beth) Morrison, Matthew Morrison, Chris (Amy) Morrison, Jeff Miller, Brooke Fortini (JoJo), Ryan (Editha Anne) Butler, Ryan Kingsbury and Brandon (Keeley) Kingsbury; and fourteen great grandchildren; a brother Roy Morrison and sisters Margie Sanders and Joan Richardson. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty & Nancy and brother Henry.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907 with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 am. Longtime family friend, Rev. Tommy Rickards will be officiating. A private interment will follow.
