They are called the greatest generation and sadly we lost one of them Wednesday morning.
Kenneth W. Kellum, Jr passed away peacefully on February 19, 2014. A longtime resident of Fort Myers and businessman, he was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on December 12, 1920.
Kenneth served in the United States Army Air Corp as a fighter pilot during World War II attaining the rank of Captain. He was awarded bronze stars for the campaigns at Guadal Canal and the Northern Solomon Island and flew nearly 100 combat missions. He returned to the United States in 1943 and was stationed at Page Field as a training officer. Kenneth took great pride in his service to his country.
He owned and operated several businesses in Fort Myers including Ken's Sports. He took pleasure in spending the summers at the family's cottage on Fort Myers Beach and was an avid golfer and baseball fan. Kenneth retired in 1996 and during the last several years he especially liked attending his great-grandchildren's baseball and volleyball games and spending time with his extended family and friends.
On June 9, 1944 Kenneth married Theresa King Kellum. In 2013 they celebrated 69 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, children; Ken Kellum III (Susan), Kathy Galloway (Sam), Karen Bixby (Wally), and Katie Nevans. Grandchildren; Ken Kellum IV ( Anne), Sean Kellum (Jodi), Andrew Kellum, Sam Galloway III ( Jennifer), Katherine Dougherty (Tom), Robert Galloway( Tracey), David Barry, Kelly Bixby, Theresa Nevans and Christopher Nevans Step Grandchildren; David Bixby (Stephanie) and John Bixby (Jennifer). Great Grandchildren, Thomas Dougherty, Evan Dougherty, Carol Marie Galloway, Will Galloway, Olivia Galloway, Caden Kellum and Alexis Kellum. Step Great Grand Children; Ryan Crews, Jack Bixby, Kendall Bixby and Sydney Bixby. Kenneth and Theresa's longtime friend and companion, Joyce Lally. His brother, Mack Kellum and sister, Bess Kellum Pope. He was pre-deceased by his sister Dorothy Kellum Linsley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 am at Church of the Resurrection, 8121 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers Fl. 33919

Kenneth was a wonderful man, husband and Father, deeply loved by his family. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and hard work. He is more than missed. We are thankful for the years that we spent with him and his being the person that we loved.
